things i’ve got on my mind...

green is good.

too much bead-i-ness?

i really like beads and beaded things. (beads are small, thus they have a special place in my heart.)
i also really like green things, but this shoe is too much!
I don't really like the AC Slater-ness of the shoe in the first place, but put the girly beads on it and man- you've got one fugly shoe!
no man should wear this and any woman who does is, in my opinion, trying to make a statement she shouldn't!

Taxidermy Mountain: a view of the top

This is about a tenth of the whole mountain. They have a whole winter/ polar scene on the other side. It's nuts; I can't get over how odd I think the whole idea of the stuffed animals on display in a store is. Granted, it's an "outdoor" store, but thinking about it from a foreign perspective, is this just a really weird thing southern Americans do?!
It makes me feel very... snaggle-toothed, plaid button-down, JohnDeere trucker hat, beer-gut country.

Conservation Mountain @Cabela's in Fort Worth

It occurs to me that this probably isn't normal to people in other parts of the world. Are there stores with taxidermied animals like this in Chicago?! Or in Los Angeles or San Francisco? I mean, what would New Yorkers think of "taxidermy mountain?" How many Yankees hunt anyway?!

Baby Girl Green!

I'm an aunt!
John's brother and his wife had their first baby tonight and she's 6lbs. 3oz. Barely a keeper, I guess.
We don't know her name yet, but she's here! Got a $1.00 fast-food burger for Paul and Janiece will be dining on some variety of hospital food. Yum.
Hey, Sarah, you jealous that Janiece gets to eat food tonight not just ice chips?! Brynleigh was worth the sacrifice for the few days though, huh?

see that big blue cage in the background? it's got a set of twins in it! one was wrapped up like a caterpillar and the other was kicking and stretching it's legs. cool.

Yeehaw! Let's use my boots!

- Hey Buddy, you got somethin' we can put this here plant in?
- Well, sure! Let's use my boots!

Seriously?! Seriously.
Living in Texas does not obligate us to having hillbilly taste. Seriously, lose the "western boot planters!"

what you've never thought of, others have done... like Barbie jewelry!

what you've never thought of, others have done...
i ran across Margaux Lange's Barbie jewelry today because of an interview she did with a guy from the NYTimes. it's surprisingly odd at first, yet still one of the most non-cutesy alt-Barbie creations I've ever seen. she's actually got some artwork going vs. stuff you'd see at a craft fair and i really appreciate that. i have to say - i like it! kind of a lot. i used to like Barbie a lot too. still do...

other sites i've come across recently that caught my attention and warranted a second look, but haven't gotten it yet, so i just saved them and here they are if you're even remotely interested...

Spinal cancer... You sorry bastard.

My friend Jason's dad died this weekend. He had stage four cancer IN HIS SPINE! How awful - and unfair. I'm so sorry for him and his mom and brothers too.
I became friends with Jason during our Leadership class through the Chamber of Commerce almost two years ago. The group is getting together for lunch tomorrow and we're going to make a donation to a cancer research foundation in his honor. I like that; flowers die but this won't.

Brynleigh is sooo tiny.

I'm in love with this kid. She is smaller than I ever thought a human could be. And Sarah and Ben are so happy. And they're in love with her so much. And that makes me happy. She's a baby!

Superhero MJ

If I were a superhero, my superpower would be keeping track of time. I'd be able to perfectly time things and get places early if I wanted to and never would I feel like procrastinating.
Standard MJ just can't do it.
I'd be known as Zippy.
