Saving grace.

This picture pretty much sums up how I felt driving to work this morning: bleak, foggy-groggy and running on empty.
Today's saving grace was getting to think about Sarah and Ben and Baby Brynleigh. They had a baby girl today! And she's beautiful. She has red hair and blue eyes. Just like her mama. Lucky girl.

Baby Seifi - coming soon!!!

Sarah's having a baby today!
I can hardly stand it!
Ben is blogging about it from their hospital room! This is fantastic because we can all be part of it w/o actually being there and bugging them for info (and therein lies one of the true beauties of blogging). They're in charge of what gets out to "the public" and when.
As of right now, Brynleigh Elisabeth (Bryn for short) is due for arrival at around "16.00 hours," as Ben put it.
Who thinks she'll have pretty red hair like her mama?! :)
Here's a picture of us just over a year ago at our wedding. Clearly, no baby there, but you can see Sarah's pretty hair! Bryn should only be so lucky...
The funny thing is, I already love this kid and she's not even "above ground" yet!

hex tables and NYC KICK map

I LOVE these hex tables. Big chunky color cubes - oh, man!

These hex tables are almost as good as a metro/subway map. Here's my current favorite map:
Check it out here: http://www.kickmap.com/
You can also download it for your iPhone - it even shows which lines are open if you're headed home at, oh, say, 2 in the morning...

Aquariaaaaannn, Aquaaaaaariiiaaaaaann

Aquarius

Research from www.psychicguild.com and wikipedia.org and here's where I found the poem. I read through a few other sources, but I'm sure you can google any further questions you may have. (I love Google.)

Your element: Air

Your ruling planets: Uranus (cool, huh.)

Symbol: The Water Bearer

Your stone: Amethyst

Your colors: Electric Blue and Turquoise

Life Pursuit: To understand life's mysteries

Destination: Costa Rica (obviously)

Vibration: High frequency

Metal: Aluminum

Aquarian's Secret Desire: To be unique and original (upon further reading, you'll discover that it's an innate thing for Aquarians to be unique and original, so howyagonnasay that's a secret desire?)

Its symbol represents water, a universal image which dates back into prehistory. This will also be recognized in the Egyptian hieroglyph representing the same.  The association in Aquarius is that of the servant of humanity pouring out the water of knowledge to quench the thirst of the world.  These symbolic waves of water, share the dual expression of vibrational waves of electricity or parallel lines of force. (Awesome! Now I understand why my vibration is "high frequency"… Um, wwhaaaaat?)

Astrologers assign personality traits to the signs. Although astrologers differ in some of their interpretations for the signs, the following traits are more prevalent in association with Aquarius. (Note that no scientific research thus far has been able to prove such correlation.)

Humanitarian and Friendly

Extreme eccentricity

Unemotional and detached

Independent and intellectual

Original and inventive

Intractable and contrary

Perverse and unpredictable

Fascinating and dynamic

Lacking real warmth and endearing qualities

Aloof

Unwillingness to participate in any standard of protocol

In medical astrology, Aquarius governs the circulatory and nervous systems, as well as the ankles.  (WTF – the ankles?!)

The Chinese equivalent is thought to be the unpredictable, charismatic Tiger, whose lunar month is 4 February - 5 March. (Is that why I like cats better than dogs?)

Apparently, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln, Norman Rockwell, Phil Collins, Oprah Winfrey, John Travolta, Mary Lou Retton, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah McLachlan, Rob Thomas, Elijah Wood, Jackson Pollock, Jackie Robinson, James Dean, Peter Gabriel and Nicolas Sarkozy (the new president of France) were/are all Aquarians.

Description:

{Special note for Aquarians: (woo-hoo! here it comes! I hope you're ready for this!) With the new Millennium heralding the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius, at this time, ready or not, your sign is regarded as the zodiac's leader. You are the trendsetter for the future and because of this high responsibility, many born under your sign will be undergoing at this time, as we approach the Millennium, the pressure of personal change (particularly in your values and what makes you content and happy). Yours has always been a philanthropic sign. Now more than ever these qualities will be highlighted.}

Those born under the sign of Aquarius not only march to a different drummer, they make up new music as they go along. They are 'mind oriented' individuals, whose thoughts never stop tick-tocking over. Because of their high focus on intellectual exploration, many inventors, eccentrics and highly original trailblazers are born under this sign. Their intense ability to live on many mental levels holds both pain and pleasure for Aquarians. For example, in the American Hall of Fame there are more Aquarians than any other sign, yet statistics reveal that in mental institutions there are more Aquarians than any other sign too. Many extremes can surround this sign and these extremes can take them to both heaven and hell.

But in everyday terms, most Aquarians are extremely humanitarian and often involved in social programs that assist others. They can also be objective in judgment for they never let their emotions get in the way. Outgoing and amiable, Aquarians attract friends wherever they go and those whom Aquarians befriend have their unswerving loyalty.

Aquarians are the zodiacs most mysterious and unusual people - and no two are anything alike. Those born under this sign - ruled by innovative and non-conformist Uranus - march to the beat of their own drum. They see life in a different way. Others quite frequently think their habits and ideas are eccentric or crazy in some way, but it is this uniqueness that makes them so special. The Aquarian mind is extremely quick and they never seem to stop thinking (it is interesting to note that many born under this sign suffer from insomnia.) Aquarians usually have strong political, environmental or social beliefs. But whether it is a relationship, career or cause - Aquarians are happiest when they have "something" to believe in and nurture.

Oooooooh, now I like this:

The Piece d'Résistance-

Who gives to all a helping hand,
But bows his head to no command-
And higher laws doth understand?
Inventor, genius, superman-Aquarius

You know, I've always thought of myself as a bit of a… "superman." (Think of Stephen Colbert when you're reading that to yourself; that's about how seriously I read it. Also, picture his eyebrow being raised as he says: superman and his chin cocked to the side and lowered slightly as he says: Aquarius.)

Cool cold front clouds.

Can you even tell how cool the clouds are with the sun just barely kissing their cheeks?
Yay weather.

Periodic Table of the INTERNET

I think this is really sharp. Whoever put this together really thought this out and spent some time on it.
I think it's awesome!
I love the Periodic Table of Elements (I heart charts and graphs), but I think I love this Periodic Table of the Internet even better. It's more relevant.
